Una, July 12
A 21-year-old migrant worker engaged in construction of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) building in Saloh village of Haroli subdivision last night tested positive for Covid-19. Consequently, all 88 people working at the site have been quarantined and the site has been sealed.
The man, who reported positive, had come to Una in a bus along with 35 other migrant workers from Bihar. They had reached Una on July 5. The Una district administration has begun tracing the remaining migrant workers who were in the bus.
Police personnel have been deployed at the IIIT construction site where the workers live in makeshift accommodation. Eight workers were living in a shack from where the corona positive case had emerged.
As a precautionary measure, the district administration has also sealed the construction site of the Saloh Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) building, which is just across the road of the IIIT building construction site. — OC
