IIM-Sirmaur organises session on leadership, group decision making
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sirmaur, concluded a three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) titled “Navigating Change and Growth: Leadership Essentials”. The programme was hosted at the Takshashila Sustainable Livelihood & Community Development Centre, THDCIL, located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The tranquil setting served as the perfect backdrop for the intensive leadership programme, designed to empower professionals from Petronet LNG Limited in managing organisational change and resistance while enhancing their leadership skills.
The MDP was led by prominent faculty members from IIM-Sirmaur, specialising in organisational behaviour and human resource management. Dr Rinki Dahiya and Dr Sonakshi Gupta served as the Programme Directors, along with Dr Prafulla Y Agnihotri, an expert in marketing management, and Dr Shashi Kant Srivastava, specialising in information technology and systems. They delivered insightful sessions on leadership, group decision-making and the growing relevance of blockchain technology in organisational development.
In her opening remarks, Dr Rinki Dahiya emphasised the critical need for professionals to adapt to emerging business trends. “This programme is designed to equip executives with practical strategies and tools for managing and implementing change in a dynamic business environment,” she stated, adding that managing resistance to change was vital for the success of any leader.
The MDP focused on several key areas, including managing diversity in changing times, the success strategies of high-performing teams, emotional intelligence and moving from conflict to collaboration. A unique highlight of the programme was the integration of blockchain technology within human resources, showcasing how the digital revolution can streamline and enhance organisational processes.
Real-life case studies
The participants, comprising executives from Petronet LNG Limited, engaged in interactive workshops, discussions and practical exercises aimed at deepening their understanding of modern leadership challenges. Through real-life case studies and hands-on experiences, they explored the complex dynamics of change management, conflict resolution and strategic decision-making.
During the valedictory ceremony, Dr Shashikant Srivastava, CMDP Chair and the programme directors congratulated the participants for their enthusiastic engagement and successful completion of the programme. Dr Sonakshi Gupta, in her vote of thanks, reiterated the importance of acknowledging and addressing resistance to change.
This MDP is part of IIM-Sirmaur’s continued commitment to fostering leadership development through collaboration with public sector units (PSUs) and other organisations. The institute aims to provide future-focused learning that equips professionals with the skills required to thrive in today’s fast-evolving business landscape.
