Immoral trafficking racket busted in Dharamsala

The Kangra police busted an immoral trafficking racket being operated in a guesthouse near Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital at Tanda in Kangra district. The police said here today

that acting on a tip-off, a woman hailing from Chandigarh was arrested while two others, who were allegedly being forced into prostitution, were rescued.

The police had information about women from other states being brought to the guesthouse for illicit activities. To verify the claims, two undercover police personnel were sent in as decoy customers. Once their suspicion was confirmed, two police teams led by DSP, Kangra, Ankit Sharma and SHO Sanjeev Kumar conducted a raid on the guesthouse.

The police arrested a 35-year-old resident of Manimajra, Chandigarh, and booked her under various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Two women were rescued from the guesthouse and taken into protective custody.

The police said that an investigation was underway more persons were suspected to be involved in the racket.
