A one-day training workshop on menstrual health and personal hygiene was organised for master trainers in Chamba on Monday. The workshop, conducted as part of the “Aparajita Main Chamba Ki” programme and presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, aimed at raising awareness among adolescent girls and women.
Master trainers from the Department of Women and Child Development, Health Department, Education Department, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) participated in the workshop.
During his interaction with the trainers, Repaswal emphasised the importance of dispelling misconceptions related to menstruation. He said outdated and unscientific beliefs had no place in today’s world, and awareness campaigns could play a critical role in overcoming these taboos.
This initiative marked a significant step in addressing menstrual health and hygiene issues in the district, aiming to empower women and adolescent girls through education and awareness, he added.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to enhance awareness activities in the district, and instructed the District Programme Officer (Women and Child Development) to develop a comprehensive action plan in this regard.
