The Himachal College Teachers Association (HGCTA) has urged the state government to implement court verdict in favour of giving consequential benefits from the date of joining to college teachers in the state. The general house of this association was organised under the chairmanship of HGCTA president Dr Banita Saklani at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, yesterday, to discuss the issues of college teachers. Around 130 teachers from 35 colleges attended this general house.

Talking to media persons, Dr Banita Saklani said that discussions were held regarding long-pending demands of college teachers in the general house. A resolution was passed urging the state government to fulfil those demands. Various issues were raised during the meeting on the pressing demands and it was decided that the association will take up the demands strongly with the government.

“The college teachers of the state have demanded the implementation of court verdict in favour of giving consequential benefits from the date of joining. Other important issues were also discussed which need immediate attention of the government. These were raising the retirement age to 65 years as per the recommendations of the UGC and restoration of the increment of MPhil and PhD degree holders, which was stopped after 2014,” she said.
