The Kisan Sangharsh Samiti has urged Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to implement MSP on vegetables, fruits, flowers, wool, milk and honey in the state.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the samiti said because of small land holdings and the lack of proper buying system, farmers had shifted to growing cash crops such as potato, tomato, cabbage, cauliflower, ginger etc. “However, with no MSP, farmers are forced to sell their produce on low prices,” the samiti said.

It demanded that the farmers’ money stuck with arhtiyas or any other buyer be released immediately, subsidies offered by the Horticulture Department on pesticides and fungicides be resumed, and Himfed and the HPMC be asked to immediately release the money of farmers.

The samiti urged the government to listen to the farmers and repeal the three farm laws.
