“The decisions taken during the past one year will determine both the direction and condition of education in the future,” he added.
The Education Minister said despite these steps there was a need to strengthen the education system. “For this, clusters of schools from pre-primary to Class 12 have been created for the first time. All the students can use the facilities available there. Children from primary classes can
visit and use laboratories in senior secondary schools,” said Thakur.
He said the state government had decided to open Rajiv Gandhi Model Day Boarding Schools, in which the overall personality development of students had been envisaged.
“Along with studies, international level sports facilities will be provided at these schools. Apart from arts, fine arts, painting, drama and dance, other contemporary subjects will also be taught in these schools,” he added.
He said the state government had opened career counselling and guidance cells in all Government High Schools and Government Senior Secondary Schools which help students in finding career options as per their abilities and interest.
The Minister said the government has started the process of providing 40,000 modern desks in schools, which will be completed soon and these desks will be distributed in the schools as per the need.
“Under the Sports to Health Scheme, the process of distributing kabaddi mats, wrestling mats, boxing mats, weightlifting equipment and kho-kho mats to 85 schools and 25 colleges as per the requirement is in the final stage,” he added.
