In Brief: 3 arrested with chitta in Theog
Shimla: Three persons have been arrested with 2.72 gm chitta (heroin) in the Theog subdivision of Shimla, the police said here on Thursday. The accused were identified as Rubal Chauhan, resident of Dhangvi village in Kotkhai in Shimla district; Sachin Verma, resident of Guthan village in Theog; and Amit Chauhan, resident of Annu village in Kotkhai. According to the police, a police team was patrolling near Balag when they saw three persons inside a car. Since the trio seemed suspicious, the police checked their car and found the contraband from their possession.The three were then arrested. Theog DSP Siddharth Sharma said a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, had been registered against the accused.
Outsourced staff at igmc on strike
Shimla: The services of 132 outsourced employees have been terminated at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH), Shimla. Following this development, the outsourced employees announced to go on an indefinite strike from Friday. The union of the associated outsourced employees said "the attitude of the hospital administration and the government had put the livelihood of hundreds of families in danger". The employees whose services have been terminated include ward attendants and women sweepers. IGMC Contract Workers Union president Virender Lal said all 500 to 600 outsourced employees of the IGMC would go on strike in support of the 132 outsourced employees who had been fired.
