In brief: Alternate route for airport mulled
Shimla: The district administration will explore the possibility of creating an alternative road and a rescue route for the Jubbarhatti airport, near the state capital. A meeting was held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap regarding the alternative road and rescue route for the airport. He directed officials to ensure that a joint team of officials of the Public Works and Revenue departments, and airport authorities, should inspect the spot regarding the routes. “This team will prepare a detailed report on the possible alternate route to connect the airport. The report will also mention the current status of both private and government land. The team will also present a report regarding a rescue route,” he said. He said, after this, a detailed proposal for both routes would be prepared and sent to the state government so that an in-principle approval could be obtained and budgetary provisions could be made. Alternate and rescue routes were necessary for the airport, and the administration was working on them, Kashyap added, noting that all formalities would be completed in the near future.ADM Protocol Jyoti Rana, Jubbarhatti Airport Director Dhanpal and District Revenue Officer Sanjeet Kumar were among those present at the meeting.
