In brief: Hotel manager ‘flees’ with Rs 5 lakh

Kullu: A manager has allegedly fled with Rs 5 lakh from the cash counter of a hotel in the Manikaran area. The police have registered a case on the complaint of the hotel owner and started an investigation. According to the police, Aman Kumar, a resident of Saira village in Kangra district, who runs a hotel has complained that he had appointed Nirav Patel of Gujarat to manage the affairs of the hotel. Aman alleged that Nirav has taken Rs 5 lakh from the cash counter of the hotel. Nirav was absconding ever since the money has disappeared from the cash counter, he further alleged. Aman was unable to trace Nirav and he was also not taking phone calls. Manikaran police station in-charge Sanjeev Walia said a case had been registered against the alleged suspect. OC

Couple injured in bike crash

Chamba: A motorcycle accident near Baroh on the Chamba-Tissa road left a couple seriously hurt. The injured have been identified as 32-year-old Jeet Singh and his wife Doli Devi, residents of Sarei village of the Churah tehsil. According to reports, the couple was traveling towards Baroh when the bike plunged about 50 ft off the road. Witnesses, including villagers and motorists passing by, rushed the spot. The injured were taken to Chamba Medical College by ambulance. Doctors have stated that their condition is stable. Meanwhile, police from the Nakrod outpost arrived at the scene after receiving information about the accident. A case has been registered. OC
