In Chamba, govt officials to ‘adopt’ schools

Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal recently chaired a review meeting with officials in Churah, emphasising the need for efficient implementation of the state government’s flagship programmes.

The meeting was held on Saturday at the BDO Tissa conference hall, where officials from various departments received essential directives to ensure the success of key welfare schemes. The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to expedite the resolution of applications under welfare schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Sukh Aashray Yojana, Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana, YS Parmar Student Loan Scheme and the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana.

He set a one-week deadline for resolving all applications to ensure that timely benefits reached eligible beneficiaries.

A unique initiative was also announced, wherein senior government officials will adopt one government school each in the subdivision.

These officials are expected to visit the schools at least twice, engage in dialogue with students, conduct classes in their areas of expertise and provide career guidance.

Additionally, they will contribute to the holistic development of the schools and help strengthen the quality of education. The DC urged the officials to take ownership of this initiative and plan their visits effectively. Reviewing agriculture and horticulture schemes, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of utilising irrigation projects to benefit farmers and horticulturists.

He directed Churah SDM Ankur Thakur to inspect clusters managed by the Agriculture and Horticulture departments to ensure proper functioning. At the meeting, the DC reviewed the progress of ongoing developmental projects in the subdivision and instructed officials to expedite their completion.
