In a bid to boost immunity, around 72,000 bottles of Arsenicum Album-30 tablets will be distributed among residents in Sirmaur by the district administration.
The drug has been administered in Gujarat and Kerala as prophylaxis. Its use as an immunity booster is catching up too.
Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Dr RK Pruthi, who started the campaign, said, “Since no known cure of Covid is available, it has been decided to boost the immunity of people. Around 20,000 bottles each will be distributed in Nahan and Paonta Sahib subdivisions, hit severely by the virus. The remaining four subdivisions where the infection is comparatively less will get 8,000 bottles each.”
The drug was distributed in September too. It was today distributed to a large number of households in the district with the help of anganwadi and ASHA workers.
Sirmaur has so far witnessed 2,243 cases and is placed 11th among 12 districts in the state in terms of caseload. “The low count implies the infection rate is less here,” the DC said.
The district administration incurred a cost of Rs 1.5 lakh in getting the drug manufactured at a Parwanoo-based pharmaceutical company.
