A one-day workshop on the Income Tax Act-1961 was held at the Himachal Pradesh Forest Academy at Sundernagar in Mandi district today. It aimed at educating officials from the Forest Department and the JICA Forestry Project. The session, attended by accountants and deputy forest range officers from various regions, including Mandi, Kullu, Dharamsala, Hamirpur, Shimla and the Great Himalayan National Park, focused on key aspects of the Income Tax Act, with a special emphasis on TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) and TCS (Tax Collected at Source).

Mandi Income Tax Officers Amarjeet Sharma and Rajended Singh provided in-depth explanations regarding the nuances of TDS and TCS under the Act. Additionally, Inspector Sandeep Rehlan, Sunita Thakur and Aditya Shukla offered valuable insights and tips on various provisions of the Income Tax Act, helping participants understand its application in their respective roles.

The workshop was inaugurated by the deputy director of the academy, Devender Singh Dogra, who lit the ceremonial lamp. The superintendent of the project management unit Shimla, Pawan Brar, welcomed the participants. Programme manager of audit and finance Arvind Verma, and accountant Narender Kanwar were also present to support the event.
