Industries Dept intensifies efforts against illegal mining in state
The Director of Industries, Dr Yunus, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to combating illegal mining activities and taking prompt action against the offenders. He said in January this year, the department registered 364 cases of illegal mining, with a total of Rs 10,71,520 in compounding fees imposed in 141 cases. In February 2025, up until February 21, 238 cases were registered, and Rs 6,37,500 in compounding fees were imposed in 92 cases.
Dr Yunus further revealed that on February 22, the department launched a special campaign targeting illegal mining. As part of this initiative, an additional 117 cases were registered state-wide by March 6, with a penalty of Rs 4,36,700 imposed on offenders. He emphasised that the department is closely monitoring these activities and making every effort to prevent illegal mining.
