In a meeting held with the UCO Rural Self Employment Training Institute (UCO RSETI), Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta emphasised the importance of ensuring timely dissemination of information regarding upcoming training camps. He urged the institute to guarantee that all relevant details reach potential trainees promptly to maximise participation.
Commending the efforts of the institute, the DC acknowledged its pivotal role in empowering youth by providing them free vocational training across various trades.
Presiding over the Local Advisory Committee meeting in Nahan, DC Khimta said the institute has exceeded its training target for the financial year 2023-24.
Khimta directed all departments to ensure that trainees were well-informed about various self-employment schemes offered by the government. This, he said, would enable them to make informed decisions about their entrepreneurial ventures.
The meeting was conducted by UCO RSETI Director Amita Sharma. In her presentation, Sharma appealed to banks to offer loans generously and with ease to the trainees, facilitating their transition into self-employment.
The UCO RSETI offers free residential training in around 25 trades, including dairy farming, beauty and well-being, jute bag manufacturing, mushroom cultivation, tailoring, banking correspondent services and textile art entrepreneurship, among others.
