The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) has directed line departments and organisations to integrate various Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) measures into their development plans and projects for addressing the growing vulnerability of the state to landslides and other factors that heighten risk during heavy rainfall in the monsoon season.

An HPSDMA spokesman today said departments must conduct a comprehensive risk assessment using the prescribed checklist to ensure disaster-resilient planning and design.

He said all departments and organisations must adhere to the 2012-HPSDMA guidelines for preparedness, capacity-building and mainstreaming disaster risk reduction measures. He added that the directives aim to enhance the resilience of infrastructure, safeguard public and mitigate risks associated with natural disasters.
