Mandi, February 1
The health authorities of Mandi and Kullu districts are actively working to deal with coronavirus threat following instructions from the state government.
According to Mandi Chief Medical Officer Jeevanad Chauhan, an isolation ward has been set up in the zonal hospital, Mandi, for suspected coronavirus patients.
He said that there was no need to get panicky but some precautions were needed to keep the virus at bay. “Its symptoms are cold, sneezing, dry cough and fever, so if someone shows these symptoms, he or she should visit hospital for screening. The virus affects low immunity persons like those suffering from diabetes, heart disease, cancer and other chronic illnesses.
“The virus was found in China but is now spreading to other places. So, it is a must for every person, who visits China, to undergo screening for the virus. The health authorities are also keeping tabs on the situation and ensuring that all suspected cases are screened in time. So far, no suspected case has been found in Mandi district,” he added.
Similarly, in Kullu district, the heath authorities have set an isolation ward and made other arrangements for the screening of suspected cases.
