Jai Ram slams Cong for defending Gandhis in National Herald case
Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, during an informal conversation with journalists here today, criticised Congress leaders for defending the Gandhi family in the National Herald case. He said that it was unfortunate that the Congress leaders were travelling across the country supporting the Gandhi family instead of presenting their case before court.
He said that the court had not granted any relief to the Gandhi family, indicating that the investigating agencies had submitted strong evidence of corruption against it. He alleged that properties worth Rs 2,000 crore were acquired for just Rs 50 lakh.
Thakur accused the Congress of considering the Gandhi family above law and undermining constitutional institutions. “Their strategy is to first commit scams, then defend them publicly and finally attack the investigating agencies and the judiciary,” he added. He urged the Congress to respect the Constitution and stop misleading the public.
Thakur, while addressing a seminar organised under the BJP’s Babasaheb Ambedkar Samman Abhiyan in Mandi, targeted the Congress for allegedly disrespecting Ambedkar’s legacy. He claimed that the Congress misused the Constitution for power and did not give due respect to Ambedkar and his contributions.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to honour Ambedkar through initiatives like the creation of “Panch Teerth”.
