Earlier, Thakur, addressing an election rally at Shakoorbasti (Pashchim Vihar) in favour of the BJP candidate Dr SC Vats, said the Opposition had no issue against the Centre and was just raking up non issues in an attempt to remain in news.

He said that the Central Government had taken several historic decisions and Article 370 and 35 A had become the history and India now had one Constitution and one symbol.

He said that the CAA was a historic step and the people of the state supported the decision as this would help the minorities of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, who were facing atrocities in these countries.
