Jai Ram using SPU as a political tool: Cong MLA
Congress MLA Chander Shekhar accused Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur of using Sardar Patel University (SPU), Mandi, as a political tool. In a statement issued, Shekhar clarified that the state government had no plans to shut down the SPU or transfer BEd colleges to Himachal Pradesh University (HPU). He emphasised that the current government was actively working to strengthen the university and ensure quality education for its students.
Shekhar further accused the former Chief Minister of attempting to undermine the development of Mandi district by raising issues like Shivdham and SPU. The MLA also accused Thakur of making baseless allegations to tarnish the government’s image.
