Jan Manch a major feat in 2 years: CM

Reaching out to people through Jan Manch and the Chief Minister’s helpline was a major achievement of the BJP government which not only took new initiatives but also implemented these to show results on the ground, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here today.

“The government made constant and consistent efforts to deliver services to the people without any rest and won the trust of the people,” he said, while addressing a press conference on the completion of two years in office on December 27.

Stressing that the astounding victory of the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls and two Assembly byelections was an indicator of the increasing popularity of the government, he said his government was committed to good governance, development and welfare of the poor and downtrodden. It had ushered in a new era of development.

The BJP not only swept the Lok Sabha polls with record margins but also secured a lead in all 68 Assembly segments, which was no mean achievement, he said.

The Him Pragati portal for online monitoring of various schemes and signing of 703 MoUs with anticipated investment of Rs 96,000 crore were aimed at generating employment and providing better services to people and ground-breaking ceremony of projects worth Rs 10,000 crore would mark the two-year of BJP government in the state.

The prudent fiscal management and increase in tax revenue helped the government and it did not raise loans indiscriminately. The loan burden was Rs 51,000 crore which would have been more than Rs 55,000 crore, if the Congress was in power, he claimed, adding that due to top priority given to redressal of grievances of people, 76 per cent of the complaints received through Jan Manch and the CM’s helpline were redressed.

As many as 171 Jan Manch were organised in all 68 Assembly constituencies in which 43,271 complaints were received and 96 per cent of these were settled while 30,303 complaints of the total 37,349 complaints received through th eCM’s helpline were resolved.

“We lowered the age limit for receiving social security pension for senior citizens from 80 years to 70 years and as a consequence, the number of beneficiaries rose to 3,56,563, who are getting the enhanced pension at the rate of Rs 1,500 per month.

In order to boost horticulture, a target of constructing 5,000 polyhouses was fixed and 85 per cent subsidy was provided to farmers for setting up polyhouses and micro irrigation facilities under the ‘Chief Minister Nutan Polyhouse Project.

Replying to a question, Thakur said the Cabinet expansion would take place soon.
