Pradeep Sharma, a retired Class-I officer of the Himachal Pradesh government and a renowned international referee from Jawali in Kangra district, has been selected to represent India as a Technical Official in the upcoming Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship. The championship will be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from August 24 to 30, with over 350 athletes from 35 countries set to participate.
A sportsman since childhood and a retired government school principal, Sharma has built a distinguished track record as a technical official and referee in several prestigious international events. In 2022, he represented India as the manager of the national team at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham (UK). Earlier, in 2020, he officiated as a referee at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
His dedication, professionalism and deep knowledge of the sport have earned him recognition at both national and international levels. The sporting fraternity and citizens of the region have warmly congratulated him on this achievement. Sharma’s accomplishment has become a source of inspiration for youth and sportspersons in the region, particularly in the fields of weightlifting and wrestling.
