Mandi, November 29
Junior Basic Teacher (JBT) diploma holders and trainees staged a protest march here today. They urged the state government to exclude B.Ed graduates from the recruitment on the posts of JBT teacher in primary schools.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court had recently ruled that B.Ed graduates could apply for the posts of JBT teacher in primary schools, which caused disappoint among JBT diploma holders. The court directed the HP Public Service Commission to consider candidates with B.Ed degrees for the posts of JBT.
Abhishek Thakur, state president of JBT Diploma Holders Association, said, “We urge Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to take up the matter with the HP High Court again in favour of JBT diploma holders. The recruitment of B.Ed graduates on JBT posts in primary schools will directly impact JBT diploma holders in the state”.
“B.Ed graduates can apply for the posts of trained graduate teacher (TGT) in middle, high and senior secondary schools, while JBT diploma holders are only eligible for the post of JBT in primary schools,” he added. — TNS
