Palampur, December 30

The state government will constitute a joint coordination committee for the speedy disposal of problems of pensioners.

This was disclosed by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the second convention of the Bhartiya Rajya Pensioners Mahasangh here last evening. He said steps would also be taken to constitute the pensioners kalyan board.

The Chief Minister said the government had provided financial benefits of Rs 5,000 crore to employees and pensioners in two years and his government was committed to the welfare of employees and pensioners. He said both were the backbone of the government as they played a vital role in effective implementation of policies and programmes. Himachal had emerged as the model state for others because of pensioners and employees.

He said appropriate steps would be taken to provide cashless medical facility to them. Efforts would be made to cover them and their families under Him Care and Ayushman Bharat.

Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur said the Centre was taking steps to resolve the problems of pensioners. A meeting would be organised at New Delhi soon for resolving their problems. Health and Family Welfare Minister Vipin Singh Parmar said these two years had been dedicated to good governance and overall development. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and working president of the BJP JP Nadda had also appreciated the efforts of the state government for various programmes and schemes being implemented in the state.

National president of the mahasangh CH Suresh welcomed the Chief Minister and said 200 delegates from 22 states had participated in this convention. The mahasangh also passed a resolution for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act.
