Senior journalist Kishori Lal Sood passed away on Monday evening at the age of 88.

His health suddenly deteriorated at his residence in the Upper Bheuli area of the district at around 4.30 pm. Despite immediate efforts to rush him to the Zonal Hospital, he succumbed to his condition and breathed his last at 7.30 pm.

His final rites were conducted at Hanuman Ghat in Mandi on Tuesday, as per his family’s wishes.

APMC Chairman Sanjeev Guleria, BJP spokesperson Ajay Rana, Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Rathour and members of media fraternity were among those present at the cremation ground during his last rites.

The news of his passing has left the journalism community in mourning.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.

Sood was regarded as a true journalist of his time, having served for many years with The Tribune.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
