The Governor has nominated the senior-most Judge of the High Court, Justice Ravi Malimath, as the Executive Chairman of the HP state Legal Services Authority (HPSLSA).
The notification issued in this regard states that the Governor in consultation with the Chief Justice has nominated Justice Malimath as the Executive Chairman of the HPSLSA.
Justice Malimath was born on May 25, 1962. He enrolled as an advocate on January 28, 1987, at Bangalore and practiced in constitutional, civil, criminal, labour and service matters, mainly at the Karnataka High Court.
He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka on February 18, 2008, and permanent Judge on February 17, 2010. He was transferred to the High Court of Uttarakhand and assumed office of a Judge of the High Court of Uttarakhand on March 5, 2020. He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Uttarakhand with effect from July 28, 2020. After his transfer from Uttarakhand, he assumed office of a Judge of the HP High Court on January 7, 2021.
