‘Kalakriti’ paints a vivid canvas of youthful creativity
The tranquil halls of Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery came alive with a burst of colour, imagination and youthful expression during “Kalakriti”, a three-day art exhibition organised by Green Field Senior Secondary School, Nagrota Bagwan, from May 25 to 27.
Far more than a routine school event, Kalakriti was a vibrant celebration of creativity, cultural heritage and artistic exploration. Conceptualised and directed by the school’s committed art faculty — Akshay Choudhary, Viveka Sharma and Ajnesh Kumar — the exhibition provided a dynamic platform for 16 talented students to showcase their original artworks and tributes to the legacy of Nicholas Roerich, the renowned Russian painter, philosopher and explorer.
Under the leadership of Principal Sudhanshu Sharma, the initiative reflected the school’s dedication to holistic education and nurturing artistic talent. “We are here to showcase the work of our budding artists. In the last four to five hours, more than 200 visitors, including international tourists, have appreciated the exhibits. It is a wonderful experience,” he told The Tribune.
The exhibition featured a diverse and striking array of paintings, sketches and mixed media works, drawing inspiration from themes such as Himalayan landscapes, spiritual symbolism, and Indian folk traditions — all deeply resonant with Roerich’s artistic vision and contemplative spirit.
The participating student artists — Suryansh, Saransh, Lakshya Thakur, Divij Shandilya, Sanchit, Pranav Kharwal, Divanshu, Shradhul Dogra, Daksha Mehta, Angel Jamwal, Prachi Sharma, Pratyaksha Mishra, Vanshika Rana, Sanshika, Shanvi Walia and Navya — impressed visitors with their bold ideas, refined techniques, and thoughtful interpretations.
The event was graced by Dr Karan Jeet, Block Medical Officer, as Chief Guest, whose presence highlighted the intersection of health, education, and community. Dr Jyoti Sharma, Medical Officer, attended as Guest of Honour, further underlining the exhibition’s message of social consciousness, responsibility and vision.
