Kalyan Bhawan in Ghumarwin to boost social welfare initiatives
In a significant step towards strengthening welfare infrastructure, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Kalyan Bhawan in Ghumarwin, built at a cost of Rs 1.66 crore by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Dharmani said the government is committed to uplifting the poor and underprivileged, with a focus on integrating them into the mainstream of society. “This building will serve as a milestone in achieving that goal,” he stated. He also noted that the foundation stone for the project was laid by him on September 25, 2017.
The three-storey facility is designed to support the implementation of key welfare schemes such as the Social Security Pension, Swarn Jayanti Ashray Yojana, National Family Benefit Scheme and scholarships for the disabled. The building is equipped with modern amenities and features seven rooms, including a main office, records room, conference hall, waiting area, guest room, a barrier-free entrance for the specially-abled and ample parking.
The minister highlighted that 17,999 beneficiaries in Ghumarwin have so far been assisted through various departmental schemes. Under the Social Security Pension Scheme, Rs 31.25 crore has been disbursed and Rs 1.20 crore was provided to 80 beneficiaries under the Swarn Jayanti Ashray Yojana.
During the event, the first instalment of financial assistance was handed over to nine beneficiaries of the Swarn Jayanti Ashray Yojana. Additionally, wheelchairs were distributed to two specially-abled individuals, reflecting the government’s inclusive approach to development.
