Local MP Kangana Ranaut today lent support to the local deity’s opposition to the proposed project of a ropeway to Bijli Mahadev in Kullu district. During a visit to the Kharahal valley, she met with local residents, who conveyed their concerns about the ropeway project to her. They said that both residents and the deity were against the project.
Kangana said, “The decision of the deity is supreme and I fully support it. Modernity is one aspect, but the culture of our deities is paramount.” She underscored the importance of respecting local traditions and beliefs, asserting that the community’s voice should be prioritised over modern infrastructure initiatives.
The residents feel that the ropeway project would disrupt their spiritual and cultural heritage.
Kangana indicated her willingness to engage with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to address the concerns raised by the local community.
