Kangra coop bank board poll on Sept 29

The election schedule for the Board of Directors of the Kangra Central Cooperative Bank Limited has been formally announced. The polling will be held on September 29, with results to be declared the same day.

The Additional Registrar, Cooperative Societies (Northern Region), Dharamsala, has approved the election programme under Rule 37 of the Himachal Pradesh Cooperative Societies Rules, 1971. The election process will be conducted in August and September.

According to the schedule, the final voter list will be published on August 30. Nomination papers can be filed until 5 pm on September 14. Scrutiny will be held on September 15 at 10 am, and the last date for withdrawal is September 19 by 3 pm. The campaigning would end by September 27 and voting would take place on September 29, an official of the cooperative department said.

The code of conduct of the polls, which came into force from today, will remain in effect during the months of August and September, this year. The elections will be held for 16 zones of the bank.

The bank management has been directed to notify all defaulting members to clear dues, failing which their names will be excluded from the voters list. The current board’s term ends on September 30. As per Rule 38 of the Cooperative Societies Rules, the election must begin at least 90 days before the expiry of the existing board’s tenure.
