Dharamsala, March 25
Having faced severe criticism for banning circulation of all print media in Kangra district, DC Rakesh Prajapati today withdrew his order. Following the order, supply of all newspapers coming to the district were stopped. Many residents of Dharamsala complained regarding unvailability of newspapers.
In the amended orders issued today, the DC stated: “The Government of India passed the order on March 24 under the Disaster Management Act 2005 whereas the government has inter-alia demanded post offices, banks and print media as essential services which are required to be kept operational by state/district authorities.” — TNS
