Kangra MP recollects memories, recites ghazal at kavi sammelan

Dharamsala, August 4
The auditorium of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh’s Dhauladhar campus in Dharamsala stood witness to a “kavi sammelan” organised under the joint aegis of Deendayal Upadhyaya Study Centre and National Kavi Sangam.

Focus on Literature

Rajiv Bhardwaj, the Member of Parliament from Kangra, was present as the chief guest and Sudeep Bhola, a well-known poet, as the special guest in the programme. Jagdish Mittal, National Kavi Sangam president and, general secretary Shakti Singh Rana were also present on the occasion.
In his address, MP Bhardwaj shared his childhood memories with the audience and recited his favourite ghazal. He also urged the researchers of the university to work in the field of tourism for the social development of Dharamsala.
Presiding over the function, Vice Chancellor Dr Satpal Bansal expressed his gratitude to National Kavi Sangam, adding that such programmes helped in drawing attention towards literature.
With the advent of digital technology, people had lost connectivity and such programmes help them connect with each other, he added.
According to the VC, a six-month certificate course in Kangri language was starting from this session by the Hindi Department of the university.
Also, the department will provide all possible support to get the works of poets and litterateurs available in the regional languages of Himachal Pradesh. Jagdish Mittal said their organisation was preparing a new generation of poets for the country.
