Kangra MP writes to Jaishankar, urges him for passport facility at Nurpur, Chamba
Says the facility for preparing and renewing passports available only in Shimla, Palampur and Kangra
Kangra Lok Sabha MP Rajiv Bhardwaj has written to Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to open a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) at Nurpur and Chamba in his parliamentary constituency. In the letter, Bhardwaj has stated that this facility is only available for preparing and renewing passports in Shimla, Palampur and Kangra in the state.
He pleaded that the people of Kangra and Chamba districts had to travel to Shimla, Palampur and Kangra for the purpose. He urged the External Affairs Minister to open an POPSK in the sub-post offices at Nurpur and Chamba so that people got this important facility near their native places.
Bhardwaj, while talking to mediapersons, said that he would also personally approach Jaishankar and urge him to fulfil the long-standing demand of the people of Chamba district and lower Kangra district. He added that a POPSK extended the facility of processing passport applications, document verification and biometric data (fingerprints and photographs) preparation. He asserted that he would try his best for providing this facility at Nurpur and Chamba during his visit to New Delhi in the coming days.
