Palampur, June 4

The institutional quarantine centre at Paror in Kangra district offers music, meditation and yoga, along with the choicest of food menu, for the people staying here. The centre, functioning in the 800-acre campus of Radha Swami Satsang, is one of the biggest quarantine centres in the state and has emerged as a role model by setting new benchmarks.

It has set an example by creating a serene environment where people wake up listening to bhajans at 6 am. Then there are yoga and meditation classes where they exercise to shoo off negativity — one for the people who want to exercise indoors while the other is for those who are interested to do yoga under the open sky.

All guidelines of social distancing are followed during these classes. Soon after, they go for other exercises. Thereafter, the inmates get breakfast of their choice and are served lunch in the afternoon. After they take an afternoon nap, the evening time awaits another interesting activity, where they listen to their favourite songs while sitting together.

While talking to The Tribune, Palampur SDM Dharmesh Ramotra said over 1,200 persons from different states had come to the centre. They all came from red zones and were sent home only after testing negative for Covid.

The inmates, mostly from Delhi, Mumbai, MP, Gujarat and Punjab, appreciated the initiative of the administration, particularly the SDM, in providing them the facilities. They said the 14-day quarantine period can be taxing but the yoga and meditation classes and other activities kept them busy as well as positive through the fight against the virus.
