Kangra Valley Carnival to promote tourism, says DC

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Kangra Valley Carnival at Dharamsala’s Police Ground on October 2, while Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar will inaugurate the event on September 28.

Cultural evenings will be organised from September 28 to October 2. Stating this, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said committees had been formed for the organisation of the carnival and ADC Saurabh Jassal had been appointed the nodal officer.

He said besides a drone show at night, Kerala’s multi-genre music band ‘Thaikkudam Bridge’ would perform during the carnival.

The Deputy Commissioner said the state government had approved various projects to develop Kangra as a tourism capital of the state and the carnival was being organised as per the guidelines of the government. He said as per the instructions of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the carnival was being organised on a grand scale from this year.

Artists from NZCC, Himachal, Punjab and Bollywood will provide endless entertainment to the viewers. Camel ride and hot air balloon will be introduced along with a giant Ferris wheel, a merry-go-round and swings.

The Deputy Commissioner said a fashion show would also be organised in collaboration with NIFD, Kangra.

The carnival will start with a Shobha Yatra from the DC office to the venue. Local artistes, along with other dignitaries, are likely to participate in it. He said the administration would livestream the event on social media.

Drone show to be organised

  • Punjabi singer Maninder will be the star performer on September 28 and popular Bollywood artiste Gajendra Verma will enthral audience on September 29.
  • While September 30 has been reserved for Himachal artistes, Rashmeet Kaur will be the star performer on October 1. Kerala's multi-genre 'Thaikkudam Bridge' band and drone show will be organised at the closing ceremony on October 2
