The Himachal Pradesh Sanyukt Karamchari Mahasangh has urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to restore the enhanced grade pay to employees regularised between January, 2020, and January, 2022. The government on Saturday withdrew the enhanced grade pay, affecting thousands of non-gazetted employees.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, the Mahasangh stated that the enhanced grade pay benefit was given after employees opted for it by surrendering certain financial benefits. The employees further stated that withdrawal of the provision had created disparity and would adversely affect morale as their legitimate basic pay was reduced without any fault on their part.

“Our request to the Chief Minister is that benefits of enhanced grade pay granted to employees, who have not completed their two years regular services on the date of revised pay notification, may be restored and eligible employees be allowed to avail the financial benefits,” the letter stated.
