After the meeting, they staged a march in the town against the state government to raise the voice regarding their long-pending demands. Later, they submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur through the Mandi Deputy Commissioner.

Virender Chauhan, state President of Himachal Pradesh Sayunkt Karamchari Mahasangh, said a meeting was held here today to chalk out the future strategy to force the state government to consider the genuine demands of government employees.

He said, “We want the government to implement Punjab pay scales in toto. There is a discrepancy in the pay scales provided by the state government. The employees of Himachal are getting lesser salaries as compared to the employees of the Punjab Government for equal job grade.” —
