Kasumpti gets Rs 9-crore projects, work on nature park underway

Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development project worth Rs 9 crore in the Kasumpti Assembly constituency of Shimla district today.

The minister inaugurated a lift drinking water scheme constructed at a cost of Rs 2.33 crore at Poabo village that would supply drinking water to Dumi, Bhont, Dhalli and Chaili panchayats. Besides, he inaugurated the new Panchayat Bhawan at Dumi constructed at a cost of Rs 37 lakh. He also laid the foundation stone of a Panchayat Community Centre at Poabo to be built at a cost of Rs 1.14 crore and a Waste-to-Wealth Vocational Training and Skill Upgradation Centre at Bagora to be constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore.

He said that keeping in view the shortage of drinking water in the area, the government had constructed a major lift drinking water scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission. “This project will now ensure sufficient drinking water to all remaining and connected villages of the four panchayats,” he added.

Anirudh said that the government had decided to equip all panchayats of the state with modern facilities. “For this, all panchayats are being modernised in a phased manner and fixed funds are being allocated to ensure timely completion of works,” he added.

He said that the Waste-to-Wealth Vocational Training and Skill Upgradation Centre would cover nine panchayats of Mashobra block and was expected to be completed within two years. Under this project, door-to-door awareness campaigns on waste segregation and management would be conducted. The project would not only create employment opportunities but also generate revenue from waste and plastic collection, which would be utilised for the development of panchayats,” he added.

He said that the construction of a nature park at Paobo at a cost of Rs 7 crore was in progress.
