Resentment is brewing among residents of Nagrota Surian development block of Jawali sub division over important posts lying vacant in government offices.
As per information, the post of Block Medical Officer (BMO) in the Community Health Centre (CHC), Nagrota Surian, has been lying vacant for the post two years. The CHC catering to the residents of over 30 gram panchayats needs immediate government attention. Only one lady doctor is running the OPD with around 200 patients visiting daily.
Contrary to the government stipulation, this CHC has only six indoor beds. The health department has ordered posting of a more doctors in the CHC but none of them joined so far.
The post of principal of local Government Degree College has also been lying vacant for the past over one year. The posts of lecturer in hindi and political science are also lying vacant since a long. The college has enrolment of over 800 students in the current academic session but vacant faculty posts, including that of principal, have hampered their studies.
The state government has also transferred Block Development Officer (BDO) from the development block of Nagrota Surian which has adversely affected development activities in gram panchayats. The rural development has come to halt after transfer of the BDO.
Balbir Pathania, vice chairman of Block Development Committee, Nagrota Surian, demanding filling of vacant posts of officials of government departments, alleged that due to political interference government employees and officials were not willing to work in this block.
