Keylong in Lahaul Spiti experienced the first snowfall of the season, resulting in lowering of both maximum and minimum temperatures.
While a dry spell was being experienced with there being no rain over the past two months, today’s snowfall in Keylong and nearby villages has set in the winters. According to reports, Rohtang Pass, Baralacha, Saptrishi and Lady of Keylong peaks experienced snowfall this morning.
The minimum temperature in Keylong was recorded at -1 degree Celcius, it was -4 degree in Koksar and Darcha. About 2 cm of snow was recorded in Baralacha La and Rohtang Pass last night. The minimum temperature in Kalpa was recorded at 2.7 degree C while in Manali it was 4.2 degrees Celsius.
As per the forecast of the Meteorological Centre, the weather was likely to remain dry in the lower, middle and higher hills till November 1.
Though the sky was clear in Lahaul Spiti and other parts of the state, there has been a sharp decline in the mercury. The minimum temperature in Shimla was 11.1 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar (7.9), Bhuntar (8.7), Kalpa (2.7), Dharamsala (11.6), Una (11.4), Nahan (14.9), Palampur (9), Solan (8.7), Kangra (10.4), Mandi (9), Bilaspur (11), Hamirpur (11.2), Chamba (8.4), Dalhousie (9.5) and Kufri (8.1).
