Keylong-Manali bus service resumes after 12 days
In much-awaited relief to the residents of Lahaul valley, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) yesterday restored its bus service between Keylong and Manali after a 12-day break.
The service, which had been suspended due to heavy snowfall near Atal Tunnel on the Manali-Leh highway on February 3, is now operational again, providing relief to local residents and tourists alike.
The disruption caused by the intense snowfall near Atal Tunnel severely impacted the transportation network between Keylong and Manali, two key points of connectivity in the region. This interruption made it difficult for Lahaul residents, many of whom travel frequently between Keylong and Kullu-Manali, to visit family, conduct business or access essential services. With a large number of people from Lahaul residing in Kullu and Manali, the restoration of the bus service has come as a welcome relief to them.
"We are pleased to announce the resumption of bus services between Keylong and Manali," said an HRTC official at the Keylong depot. "The services were restored yesterday after a gap of 12 days. However, we want to emphasise that the continuity of this service will depend on the weather conditions in the coming days," he said.
The resumption of this bus service not only benefits the local population but also presents an opportunity for tourists eager to explore the stunning natural beauty of the Lahaul valley and the Atal Tunnel. The tunnel, which is a popular tourist attraction, and the panoramic views along the Manali-Leh highway, lure visitors to the region. Now, tourists can avail the HRTC bus service which provides tourists a convenient and affordable way to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area.
The residents of Lahaul valley have expressed their gratitude, with many sharing their relief at being able to travel freely once again.
