Khairwood recovered from govt land

The Una Forest department on Wednesday recovered 24 logs of illegally cut khairwood from government forest area in Majhiar village of the Amb forest range.
Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Rahul Sharma said the freshly cut logs were found lying on the forest floor by a team led by Amb Forest Range Officer Ashish Dhiman. He said six stumps of khair trees were identified near the spot.
The ACF said all the logs had been seized and their market value has been assessed at Rs 80,000. He said a case under Sections 32 and 33 of the Indian Forest Act and Section 379 IPC has been registered.
