Khanna predicts BJP win in MC elections

Avinash Rai Khanna, senior BJP leader and in charge Himachal BJP affairs, today predicted clean sweep by the BJP in the civic polls of four municipal corporations Palampur, Solan, Dharamsala and Mandi due in March.

Addressing news conference here this afternoon Khanna elaborated upon the party’s plans of contesting elections.

He said that all major development projects like HP Agriculture University, CSIR IHBT project, bus stand and Palampur Municipal Corporation were set up by the BJP government.

He stated that in coming days people of Palampur would witness development in newly merged areas of the corporation which remained neglected during the Congress regime. He expressed concern that in past 70 years Congress never allowed the expansion of Palampur municipal council.

He said the Congress in the state was facing leadership crisis as there was no leader left after Virbadhra. It was fighting for its survival and heading towards vertical spilt.

He said the process of selection of candidates for MC elections has begun and the party is in the process of setting up election management teams.
