Kirpal Chand Kuhl in bad shape

ABOUT 300-year-old Kirpal Chand Kuhl, which is called the lifeline of 100 villages of Palampur and Sulaha areas, is in a bad shape. It has turned into a garbage dumping site. In the absence of a garbage disposal facility in a dozen panchayats of Palampur, people residing on its banks between Bundla and Bhawarna are dumping their waste in the kuhl. The situation is the worst between Aima and Maranda. One can see that tonnes of garbage, including polythene, animal carcasses and empty gunny bags, is thrown daily into the kuhl. Unfortunately, the authorities and the IPH Department are least bothered. — Suresh Kumar, Palampur

Satlai area residents irked over low voltage

Residents of Jhandi and Chikhar villages, falling under the Satlai panchayat in Mashobra, are facing inconvenience due to low voltage. The voltage at night is so low that students can’t study due to dim light. We have apprised officials of the state electricity board about the problem several times but the problem persists. The authorities concerned must intervene and get the problem sorted out. — Netar Singh Thakur, Chikhar village
