Mandi, August 25
Grand cultural programmes are on the roster for the international Kullu Dussehra festival, set to be held from October 13 to 20.
According to Kullu Additional District Magistrate Ashwani Kumar, this year’s festival includes performances at two key locations — the historic Lal Chand Prarthi Kala Kendra and a new stage at the exhibition ground.
The latter will host cultural programmes during the day, until 5.30 pm.
The festival will showcase cultural troupes from various countries, states, and districts, including local artistes from Kullu, he said.
“Night cultural evenings will feature performances by renowned artistes. A highlight of the festival will be a cultural parade on the second day, which will feature participants in traditional costumes from around the world, as well as from different states and districts of India,” he added.
“The festival will culminate on October 20 with the Kullu Carnival, which will display the rich cultural heritage of the district. The carnival will start at Rath Ground, Dhalpur, and end at Lal Chand Prarthi Kala Kendra, featuring local cultural groups and Mahila Mandal members,” he said.
Efforts would be made to promote the festival’s cultural diversity and splendour, the ADM added.
