Kullu, January 18
Jyoti Thakur, a resident of Jalaphadh village, Banjar, has won gold medal in shot put and bronze medal in discus throw at the National Para Athletics Championship held in Goa from January 11 to 13. She was accorded a rousing welcome at her native place.
While expressing gratitude, Jyoti said now her dream was to bring glory to India by participating in the International Para Competition for which she had already started the preparations. She added that disability should not be considered as a curse.
Jyoti has received her education from the Senior Secondary School, Banjar.
She had also participated in the Khelo India competition organised in Delhi and had also won gold medal in the Para Games organised in Odisha. Apart from this, Jyoti had won two gold medals and one silver medal in shot put and discus throw at Para Games held in Pune.
Kullu BJP Mahila Morcha spokesperson Khema Deepak also honoured Jyoti.
