Kullu man gets 10-yr jail under POCSO

Kullu Special Judge Purender Vaidya today sentenced Hari Ram of Bhuntar to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 under the POCSO Act here today.

Kullu District Attorney NS Chauhan said the convict would further undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years in case of default in the payment of fine.

The accused had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl on July 30, 2017. The victim detailed her ordeal to her mother after which a criminal case was registered at women police station, Kullu.

The District Attorney said that 19 witnesses had been examined and on the basis of evidence, the court had convicted the accused.— OC
