In response to recent clashes between tourists and locals, the Kullu police have implemented stringent measures to maintain law and order. According to reports, the Manali police have registered two cases of law violation, while two motorcycles were impounded due to incomplete documentation. Additionally, a number of traffic challans have been issued under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The police have also taken action against the locals involved in clashes with tourists. Further, individuals accused of spreading communal hatred on social media have come under scrutiny. Kullu Superintendent of Police Karthikeyan Gokulachandran assured that efforts were going on to identify lawbreakers. He added that investigations were in progress and those found guilty will face penalties in accordance with the law. The police are also addressing violations detected through Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) CCTV cameras.

Meanwhile, a large number of tourists have been arriving on motorcycles in Kullu, Manali and Manikaran, often carrying long masts with flags attached to their vehicles. Some riders are seen mimicking turbans with tied cloths to avoid wearing helmets, while engaging in rash driving and disregarding traffic rules. These incidents have led to confrontation with locals in areas like Jari, Raison and Manali. On March 15, a group of motorcyclists was booked for reportedly creating chaos and breaking through the SADA barrier in Kasol.

These disturbances are not new, with similar incidents involving visitors from Punjab reported in recent years. Rumors and misinformation surrounding these events have further heightened tensions. Locals have expressed concern, stressing that while pilgrims are always welcome, acts of hooliganism, often fueled by intoxication, are unacceptable. There are also reports of visitors carrying weapons, including guns, swords, knives and sticks, which has escalated fear and unease in the region.
