The Regional Hospital, Kullu, has started registering patients on the online portal using the ABHA app. Patients need to scan a QR code through the app to receive a token number, which remains valid for one hour. They can then visit the registration counter, present the token, and obtain their OPD slip instantly by specifying the required department. Their test reports and prescriptions will also be updated on the portal, maintaining a comprehensive medical history.

This initiative will significantly reduce waiting times at registration counters. Previously, patients had to stand in long queues for hours and manually provide details to the data entry operator, a process taking two to five minutes per person. Now, with QR code scanning, patient information is retrieved automatically, allowing slips to be issued immediately. This system will help reduce overcrowding and long waiting hours.

The hospital offers both offline and online registration. To manage the increasing patient load, and under the guidance of Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, three additional registration counters and two new billing counters have been set up. The hospital currently handles 1,200 to 1,400 OPD cases daily. The new digital system ensures smoother and faster patient registration, improving hospital efficiency.

Kullu Chief Medical Officer Nag Raj Panwar stated that nearly 90% of the district’s patients are already registered under ABHA. He emphasized that in the near future, patient records will be accessible from any location, making treatment easier and more efficient. The adoption of modern technology in registration marks a major step toward enhancing healthcare delivery in Kullu.
