In a touching display of community spirit and compassion, the Rotary Club, Kullu, recently distributed shoes and play mats to over 181 students enrolled in government primary schools across Kullu town and its surrounding areas.

This heartwarming initiative aimed to offer more than just material aid—it sought to create an atmosphere of encouragement and joy that can foster a deep-rooted love for learning among young children.

The event unfolded as a lively celebration of empathy and volunteerism. Leading members of the Rotary Club brought not only their presence but their personal warmth and dedication to the occasion.

Under the inspiring leadership of president Anshul Prashar, the club—an organisation with over four decades of committed service—extended this project to eight different schools, including Government Primary Schools in Sultanpur, Durganagar, Kharal, Neuli, Akhara Bazar and Devdhar. “Our aim goes beyond donating supplies. We envision a future where every child has access to a safe, engaging learning environment,” Prashar stated, reflecting the long-term mission of the club.

Crucial to the success of this initiative was the collaboration with local educational bodies. The Teacher Home Committee Sarwari Kullu lent strong support through the involvement of its president Shyam Handa, permanent secretary Kartar Thakur, secretary Ravinder Thakur and treasurer Jeet Rana.

DIET Kullu’s mathematics lecturer also contributed meaningfully to the planning and execution.

During the event, secretary Ravinder Thakur shared the goals of the School Adoption Programme, encouraging the Rotary Club to adopt local schools in a sustained and structured manner for continued impact.

The joy on the children’s faces and the gratitude expressed by educators highlighted the emotional and social value of the event. More than a one-time distribution, this initiative served as a catalyst for deeper community engagement and long-term educational support.

This compassionate act stands as a shining example of how small, well-executed gestures can lead to transformative and lasting change.
